Blurry Fotos, Girl's Night & a Ridiculous Cat.

 Heyyyy folks.
Happy Thursday to you!

I have a new post over at my sort-of-kinda-more-professional blog about a project I did last night.
Check it oooooout.

Alright, enough plugging for my other blog.
Onto my not-so-professional-and-much-more-vulgar blog posts.
Yeeeah!

This past weekend was super-duper fun.
[I'm really into using unnecessary adjectives right now. Don't judge me.]

I don't think I've told you guys that I'm taking an online fotography class. It's pretty awesome.
Right now, I'm in the early stages of the lessons and I already know most of what we're talking about [aperture, ISO] but Shutter speed was one of the things that I didn't have a clue about.

I've messed around with it before, but that doesn't mean I knew what the heck I was doing.

So my "assignment" for this lesson was to take a picture of a moving object.
We were told to set our shutter speed to a slow shutter [which means that the shutter stays open longer] and move the camera with the object.

Ideally, you'll end up with a picture that has the moving subject in focus and the background a blurry mess.
Which looks pretty badass.
In the most "ideal" of circumstances, that is.

This is the best picture I got:
 *crickets*

Not awesome.
Believe me, it's much harder than it sounds.
And I forgot my tripod [fail] which I think would've helped. Like, a lot.

I did this for about a half hour before I got bored of taking super-crappy pictures.
Plus, people were staring at me like I was a crazy person.

It was either that or Matt would've had to ride his bike up and down our street repeatedly until I got what I wanted.

In other news:
My cat is ridiculous.
When I say "cat" I mean "cats" because this has become their favorite place to hang out.
I'm not sure why this revelation just came to them. This basket o' socks has been sitting in the laundry room since the dawn of man. Matt and I don't ever match our socks. We just have a morning ritual [we call it the sock game] where we have to search through the basket to find a pair that go together.

Except on the mornings where I don't care.
In which case, I just get two socks and run out the door.

Saturday night I went to Man-happenin' for a girl's night
where the following occurred:
Subway sandwiches
Boulevard Beer
Aggieville
Shot Stop
Card games
Girl Talk
and Pandora radio
Could she be more lovely? I think not!
I didn't take my good camera because...well, let's face it, that would be super dorky.
It won't exactly fit in my back pocket.

So those ^ were from a camera phone. Oh well. Still cute!

We had a blast, as expected, and I went home early on Sunday to help Michelle with her room. She's starting 5th grade [teaching] next week. That was crazy fun, not gonna lie. I was in my element, for sure. I love organizing and I love crafting, both of which I got to help with. Score.

This week I have been stupid busy. Seriously, I feel like one of those cartoon characters that's just running in a circle and getting absolutely nothing accomplished.
But, on the positive side of things, it's certainly made the week fly by.

Oh, right.
I have big news.
HUGE.
Guess who gets to go to NEW YORK CITY in December?!!!!

THIS GIRL!

Yeah, that's right.
The Auffert women are takin' it to the big city. Better watch out.
Some serious shenanegins are about to ensue.

So to prepare for this awesome adventure, I've got some major goals in mind.
These may or may not include:
losing the weight the crept up on me the last few months from sitting around after surgery
revamping my wardrobe
pinpointing cute, fun places to visit
sucking less at photography [imagine the amount of pictures I'm going to take....]
and who knows what else.

It's okay if you're jealous.
Matt is, too.

I'll think of you while I'm in the big city, pretending I live there. For four days..

That's all I've got for you, folks.
Here's to a relaxing weekend.

  1. You wouldn't happen to be taking your online photography class with Mr. Jones would you?

Here is a link to some of my photos. I used to use a Kodak EasyShare but now I've moved up to a Nikon HLR!

  2. No it's a class through a website. It's not through a university.
