April Showers Bring May Flowers

The Butler loss tugged at my heartstrings a bit.
Can you blame me? Look at that face.
He looks like he might cry.
*sigh*

Moving on.

Weekend Update:

Friday afternoon we [randomly] decided that we were going to Lawrence [which, to me, is NEVER a bad thing. Lawrence is my mother-ship.]
So we both got off at 4, I went home & got ready, packed our junk, & hit the road.
First Stop? Freestate, of course.
[Remember our family rule; any time we're within a 100-mile radius we are required to visit.]
Wait time? 1-1.5 hours.
And people, a wait like that is typical for this restaurant.
Luckily they had ran out of beepers, so they took down our cell. Which meant that we could go to a nearby bar and drink beer until our wait was up.
Good News.
So we finally ate. And drank FreeState Beer.
Next stop was Phil & Claire's.
Again, more beer.
And then we walked to Louise's West.
Beer. Laughing. High school friends.
All very good times.
And then they wanted to walk to another bar.
*sigh*
By this time, I was ready to go to our trashy hotel and hit the sack.
But we went. Because we're crazy like that. And then afterwards, called us a very friendly taxi & headed to the Super 8.
That was a treat.
I didn't even shower because I was afraid it would do more harm than good.
And after a night at the bars in Lawrence, I desperately wanted a shower.
Luckily, our hotel in KC was much nicer. Good 'ole Holiday Inn Express.

Saturday agenda:
Eat Lunch.
Look at apartments for Megh & Adam.
Shopping.
[well not really shopping, because Megh & I weren't in the mood, but we did look at clothes if that counts.]
Westport.
Sonic, Walmart [in the ghetto], Flea Market, etc.
Power Hour
[because we're thrifty & any bar that offers unlimited beer for 2 hours is a friend of mine.]
Piano Bar.
Here, Jared met us & proceeded to sing to a stranger [he's awesome like that] and I took off my shoes [heels were a poor choice] and got in trouble with the bar-keep. Oops.
And I forgot to close my tab. Oops.

Sheesh, I need to tan..
So it was a fun night.
A little too much beer, not gonna lie.
And yesterday I was still SO exhausted from the trip.
I slowly came to the realization that I am too old for all those shenanigans.
Yes, at the ripe age of 23, I have lost all ability to heal from a hangover in less than 24 hours.
It now requires two full days.

Sunday, in an effort to make myself feel as though I didn't waste an entire day recuperating on the couch, I convinced Matt to go to Wally-World with me to get pretty flowers for the yard.
$200 dollars later, we left that store with more crap than we planned on getting. [Matt claims it is impossible to leave without spending at least $100]

And Mom, you'll be happy to know that I got rid of the mums [as beautiful as they were, they started smelling funny...]
and replaced them with my KU colored planters.

Be jealous.

My goal is to keep these alive for at least a month, so Sarz if you have any pointers that would be spectacular. I could use all the help I can get.

This weekend we have nothing going.
A little rest before the MS walk & Half Marathon the following weekend.
I have jitters about that Half. It's going to be pretty awesome. Especially since it's in LAWRENCE!

And in case any of you were wondering, yeah, I deleted my Facebook account.
We needed a time-out.

That's all I've got for now.
I hope you all had a spectacular weekend & are enjoying this BeAuTiFuL weather.

Lots of Love
&
ROCK CHALK,

mal & matt
