Tattoo's, Renovating, and Birthday Weekends

Well, Matt & I had a really busy week. First, we had to finish up the laundry room. Tammie & Lyndon did the tile floor for us, which looks fantastic, and then we had to paint (See picture below). It took all week to finally get things put back together, but the end result was worth it! I don't have any "before" pictures, unfortunately, but we had ugly laminate and white walls before this mini-renovation.

Saturday, Mom, Dad, Drew & Meg came down to celebrate Mom & Matt's birthdays. We had a great time on Saturday; first, we watched the game (which clearly didn't turn out well, but we still love our boys despite them looking awful at the game Saturday). Then we went to Applebee's for dinner, which was wonderful (except for our very impersonal waitress) and delicious. After that sis and I headed out to get our tattoos. It only took the guy like 20 minutes to do them and they look pretty fantastic. It hurt pretty badly, not gonna lie. But we made it through! Here's the end result:
The blue & Red are really hard to see, but the "Rock" had blue filled in and the "Chalk" has red. They're way more pretty in person, but you guys shall see them soon!

Matt & I also went to Lowe's today to purchase new counter tops. Our teal-colored ones just weren't working for us, so we took advantage of their no-interest for 12 months and sale on corian. They said it should be installed and done in 3 1/2 weeks, but hopefully it'll be sooner. I'll post pics when they're done.

Other than that, not too much going on. Matt's birthday's been good. We've just been lounging around for the most part; nothing terribly exciting, as usual. I finished a couple more scrapbook pages, so hopefully I'll be done soon.

So I suppose I'm done, now. I hope everyone's having a great Sunday and are getting prepared for Monday. Good luck with that!! :-)

Mid-Day Snack

So here's the story for the week so far:

Friday: I went to Manhattan to have a fantastic time with the ladies. It was amazing; we had SO much fun! Yay for Aggieville and wonderful gal-pal's.(Sorry, Sarz, I stole your pic to show the family! )

Saturday: Re-cooping from the night before and dinner with the Family in St. Jo. I had a blast seeing everyone and talking about random things. It's always wonderful to see the family!

Sunday: Drive home from Topeka which took me a little while extra with the snow and people's inability to drive in such snow. Once finally back in Salina, I stopped by the Y to run the 2 miles that I missed on Saturday. Then when I finally got home, Matt & I ripped out the linoleum in the laundry room (with help from Doug & Jo) and moved everything out in preparation for tile-laying, courtesy of our friends Tammie & Lyndon. A trip to Lowe's was necessary to pick up the tile and we got some paint while we were there so we could paint the room while everything was out of it.

Monday: Tammie & Lyndon laid the tile while Matt & I stood and watched, feeling utterly useless, but I'm sure they appreciated us not helping; I'm sure we would've done more harm than good if we would've tried to assist.

Tuesday: Tammie came to lay the grout and did so in a whopping hour and ten minutes! I was way impressed with her quickness & all-around skill in the grout-laying process. After she was finished I went to the Y to do my 2 miles, which I must brag that I beat a personal best at (1 mile in 11:22), which wasn't fantastic for the average American, but for me it was stupendous. Afterwards, Matt & I made about 6 separate trips to Lowe's to get things for painting that we kept forgetting to get on previous trips, hence the multiple trips in one day. Around 8:30 last night, we began painting and finished the first coat by 9:30. By that time I was so exhausted I could barely think, but I managed to watch the newest episode of Lost. This wasn't a great idea since you really need to be on your A-Game in order to watch that show. It's very confusing and frankly, they open about 20 new doors each episode despite their claims of "Explaining things". They don't explain squat.

Wednesday: I wake up, baffled still by last night's episode of Lost to the world's most awful sound: the alarm, while my husband gets to lay sleeping next to me. Needless to say, this wasn't the greatest start to my day; and to make matters worse, we got a bill from my cardiologist saying that I owe a large sum of money to them for the event monitor that 1) I did not even want, 2) was my 4th event monitor since the age of 12 and 3) did not show anything of significance. Superb.

But somehow, because of some great miracle, I am managing to stay positive for the rest of the day. I have a trip to the Y ahead of me, as well as finishing touches on the laundry room and choir practice at 6. Then, when I come home at 7, I imagine I'm going to go to sleep. Because I'm exhausted just thinking about it! haha

Annnnywho, I hope all of your weeks are going well so far. 2 Days until Friday! Hooray!!

Lots of love
&

Healthy Heart

Just left the Cardiologist with a follow-up appointment to my event monitor. She said out of the 2 events I recorded only one showed something with an abnormal rhythm and even then, that it wasn't anything to worry about. She said that for now, I should just be on the lookout for anything unusual and if I'm worried to just call and schedule an appointment. Other than that she said everything looked great, and I got the all-clear for my dental surgery (which I'm not all that thrilled about) and for living life normally. Hooray! I'm so excited that she doesn't want me to get that surgery and that my heart is only a little 'special'. Haha...so that's my good news for the day. If you can't tell, I'm a little excited about it.

Matt & I had a very lazy, but relaxing, Valentine's Day. We watched girly movies all day (which Matt was really excited about) and I actually made it to the Y to work out. We were also very nosy neighbors and went to the Open house that was across the street from us. I started my scrapbook for the wedding and I must say, I am terrible at scrap booking. But I don't really mind because I'm the only one who will really be looking at it all that often. I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and is having a wonderful Monday. Can't wait to see everyone this weekend!!

Don't forget to tune into the KU vs. Texas A&M tonight at 8.

Almost the Weekend

This is pretty much what I see when I look out my office window.

Thankfully, it's almost time for the weekend. I'm not going to lie, I've been dying to sleep in all week. And that's just not going to happen. So, every morning I wake up and tell myself...three more days until Saturday....two more days until Saturday....one more - well, you get the idea.
It's really beautiful outside today. Not bone-shattering cold, but not sweat-on-your-back warm either (though I can't say I would complain if it were) aaaaannd, it's sunny. Hooray! I thought the sun was lost forever last week.

Doug & Jo have been gone all week so it's been very quiet in the office for me. Matt started at a new store as General Manager on Tuesday and he's really excited about it! Lots of new stuff happening, it seems.

Sister and I are going to Manhattan next weekend to have a fun girl's time. I can already feel that it will be a BLAST!! So excited. Then the next Saturday we're going to finally get the tattoos on our feet (gasp!). It's alright, they're not going to be huge or obnoxious, just something simple. But we still like to believe we're rebels...

I hope you've all been watching my hawks in their glorious winning streak. I'll be the first to admit we played like crap against Nebraska and Colorado (I mean, really...Nebraska?) but we won, and to me, that's all that matters. I think we showed what we could really do in the game against Texas. Gooood stuff, for sure.

All in all, it's been a pretty busy last few weeks. I've been working my (excuse my language) ass off at the Y, so perhaps next time you see me, you'll mistake me for a supermodel. Highly unlikely, but a girl can dream. :-)

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week so far, and Family - I cannot wait to see you on the 20th!!

Another Jayhawk Victory

Not much going on this week for Matt & I. I sang in the choir yesterday morning, and must say that it came a little to early for me. Some friends of ours came over Saturday night and we celebrated the KU win a little too much! At least I did! :-)

Well, another successful game the other night against the Wildcats. Despite the negativity that is coming from what seems like every fan that isn't a Jayhawk, I think we played a great game. Though we missed a lot of easy shots, and had way too many turnovers, it was expected to be a very close game, in fact I recall ESPN expecting us to lose. It was a nail-biting game for sure, but we pulled out with the win and are proud of it. Frankly, I'm getting tired of everyone on Facebook and everywhere else making excuses for every opponent we play, even though we would be chastised for doing the same had we been on the losing end. Granted we are not the team we were expected to be, I think we're still playing pretty darn well. I, of course, don't mean to offend anyone, but this is my team and no matter what anyone says I will love them dearly and WILL root for them to the death, even if I disapprove of the way they might be playing from game to game.

Anyway, I just had to get that off my chest and I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and a glorious start to their week!
