5-Mile & Riverfest

Just a quick update on this past weekend.

Riverfest was a blast; Megh came through on Thursday and we all attended the festival jam, which is the opening night for Riverfest. It was a blast!! Definitely warm outside, but we didn't mind, especially after the sun finally went down.

Friday, I got out of work early and went to the country club pool with Megh & Michelle. It was so great hanging by the pool with the ladies! :-D

Saturday, I got up earrrrrrly for the 5-mile race. Registration started at 6am, so I woke up at about 5:30, got ready & headed to the park. It wasn't raining when I left, but by the time I got there, parked & got to the registration table, it was pouring down rain. And then I had to move my car, so I walked all the way back, and then parked at the bi-center to make it a closer walk when I was finished. I nearly just drove home when I got to my car, but decided that I was already up stupid-early, so why not just run? I knew I would feel better if I did.

I finished the 5 miles in 54 minutes and certainly did not finish in first place like my awesome cousin, Bethy did at her race (nice job, girly!!) but I did finish, and quite frankly, that's all I could've asked for. It was cold, rainy, early and I really just wanted to be home sleeping, but I wasn't! I was running. That was my goal, and I achieved it, despite my hesitations.

After I was done, of course, the sun showed us it's bright, beautiful face, so we all headed out to Milford lake & took the boat out! It was so great to go to the lake and relax. It turned out to be a beautiful day.

I have a few pictures from the weekend; not from the race because I didn't want to take my camera out in the rain, but I have some from Riverfest, so I will add those a little bit later when I get a second. I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Rock Chalk,
Mal

  1. That's awesome that you did a 5-mile race Mal, very proud of you! Kati suggested to me that her and I start training to do a half-marathon next year, I would like to, just need to get my motivation up. Think you could pass some of your motivation along to me? lol

  2. haha..well, I must say I'm lacking a bit in the motivation department, but I think you would really like doing a half marathon! And with your long legs, it would be a piece of cake for you!
